Frame Works is pleased to announce the art exhibition Expressive Strokes featuring black and white photography by Larry Mendenhall. The show will opened at Frame Works, 5800 Merle Hay Road, Johnston, Iowa on August 7, 2015 and hung in the gallery until August 31, 2015.
The Artist & His Work:
Expressive strokes is a concept borrowed from pencil drawing. It refers to a line that varies in width, angle, and pressure to create a more expressive line as compared to one drawn with a ruler. Examples of expressive strokes are abundant in nature and are the subject of “Expressive Strokes”, a showing of black and white photography by Larry Mendenhall.
A former newspaper photographer and editor, Larry Mendenhall began concentrating on landscape photography in the late ‘90’s and began Quiet Places Photography in 2003. Since then, his work has appeared in numerous juried art shows and exhibitions. His portfolio of rural Iowa churches was featured in issue #109 of LensWork magazine.
